Liverpool crowned European champions for the seventh time

Salah and Origi goals earn Reds victory over Villarreal in Champions League final

Jurgen Klopp's side claim their first Champions League triumph since 2019

Liverpool have been crowned champions of Europe for the seventh time after a 2-0 victory over Villarreal in the Champions League final in Paris.

Mohamed Salah scored a second-minute penalty to give the Reds an early lead, and Divock Origi sealed the win with a late strike.

The victory is Liverpool's first Champions League triumph since 2019, and their seventh European Cup overall.

It is also Jurgen Klopp's first Champions League title as Liverpool manager, and his fourth major trophy with the club.

Liverpool were dominant throughout the match, and they could have won by a greater margin.

Salah had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, and Sadio Mane hit the post in the second half.

But Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli also made some fine saves to keep the score down.

In the end, Liverpool's quality proved too much for Villarreal, and they were deserved winners of the Champions League.
